What we did for Spring Break

It has been a while since we have taken a family trip. We were going to go visit my sister in Texas over Christmas break but Paul was so busy with appraisals we had to stay. So, this was a long awaited family trip. We decided to go to Legoland for Spring Break. Our family has never been and we heard it is great for young kids plus it was less expensive than Disneyland (I got a deal on ebay). We left on Friday after school and headed to Las Vegas where Paul's brother lives. We got in late and just crashed. Saturday we went to the butterfly park which is our favorite place in Las Vegas. The kids played there for hours, we had lunch, and then Russ (Paul's brother) and Michele (Russ' girlfriend of 3 years and counting) took the kids to a movie while Paul and I went shopping. Then we had a great ham and potato dinner and colored easter eggs and went to bed in time for the easter bunny to come. Sunday we awoke to some easter dressses and flip flops from the easter bunny. We went to church and then headed for California (San Bernadino, to be exact). Paul's biological dad lives in California and we planned on meeting him at Grandma Sophie's home. We had delicious food and lots of hugs and kisses (by Grandma Sophie who is 91 years old). We then headed to Hemet to sleep the night. Monday was Legoland Day. It was so much fun. The weather was great and the rides were a lot of fun. We seemed to have waited in lines earlier in the day. Our favorite ride was only a 20 minute wait (Project X). We had a blast! We had a great time. We ended up going to Carlsbad beach because Legoland closed at 6pm. The kids had a great time. They loved the beach. They loved running up and down, trying to run faster than the tide. They all loved it even after they fell in, accidently. Okay, Preston was on purpose because he didn't want to be left out. It was so funny to see them fall in and get swallowed by the wave. Tuesday was another beach day but it was so windy we didn't stay long. We only left because the adults couldn't stand the wind any longer. The kids loved the beach. We then headed back to Las Vegas which was our stopping place for the night. The next day we drove home after a dip in the hot springs which is in Meadow, UT which is in the middle of nowhere, literally. We got lost but finally found it. It was freezing outside but the water was so warm. After a drive through a snow storm and an accident on the freeway that created a parking lot, we finally made it home. It was a fanastic vacation. The kids were great, even in the car! The activities were fun and we loved staying with family. We even ended up below budget. Yippee! I can't wait until our next trip.
